Women in UK Manufacturing

A collaborative project which will look to attract more women into the UK Manufacturing Sector

Initial 1 day conference to be held at  Ardagh Glass Knottingley

December 9th, 2021

A collaborative and strategic approach which will encourage more women to enter the UK Manufacturing Sector, have successful careers and become role models. Our 1 day conference in December will start off the process but we see this as a long term project, with additional organisations wanting to be involved.

  • Personal stories – women already successful in a manufacturing role
  • Women generally holding senior leadership roles
  • Identifying the current challenges and barriers to women having successful careers in the manufacturing sector
  • Building relationships with schools, colleges and universities
  • An apprenticeship strategy that recruits women into the manufacturing sector
  • Beginning to build a best practice strategy for 2022 and beyond
  • Agreed action points for the early stages of 2022

Ongoing activities:

  • Best practice visits
  • Women in Manufacturing – leadership development opportunities
  • Login area on the LDC website
  • Women in Manufacturing – mentoring support
  • Input from the university sector – research and workshops
  • Work experience on a collaborative basis
  • Collaborative sponsorship – disadvantaged individuals
