Structure Of The Day

LDC member organisations invite their customers or suppliers to a benchmarking visit at the Nissan plant in Sunderland.
An opportunity to build on existing relationships with customers and suppliers. Being together in a different environment, observing
operational excellence and identifying new ways of working together. The team from Nissan will share their strategy around supplier
partnerships, best practice methodologies and creating sustainable relationships.

The day visit covers a range of areas and is a building block for further research and implementation of new ideas:

• Recruitment Centre which allows us to observe the selection
process for manufacturing staff
• Standard Operating Procedures
• Continuous Improvement – tools & techniques
• The Kaizen process
• Role of the supervisor – including a visit to a supervisors zone
• Shift Changeover

• Approach to training – including the assessment of competency
• Safety Dojo – an interactive training method around the 10 safety
behaviours at Nissan
• The training and development infrastructure
• Cascading of objectives
• Audit process
• The Cultural Journey

The LDC will offer this pilot experience but with the ambition to build a best practice community around customer and supplier
partnerships. Our 1-day visits to Nissan cover a range of areas and have become a building block for further benchmarking activities
and implementation of new improvement ideas.
