First Line Leader Selection & Development Centre

Our work around the first line leader includes the rigorous selection of individuals who wish to take up the role. Experience suggests that appointing the wrong candidate and having to unravel the situation is a painful process for all concerned.

As part of our 10^th Year Anniversary activities we will offer our member organisations the opportunity to participate in a selection/development centre for FLL. Member organisations might sponsor both internal and external candidates.

The selection/development centre process could also support the selection of candidates for our FLL development programmes.

Selection/Development Centre – Key Features:

• A two day process
• Maximum of 6 participants
• Facilitated by the LDC
• Observation by line managers and organisational leaders
• Group project focussing on leadership
• Research around leadership
• Final group presentation (recorded)
• Feedback/coaching to each participant after the 2 days

In terms of feedback to the participants after the event we will observe the following behaviours during the 2 days:

• Personal energy and enthusiasm
• Building relationships with participants from other organisations
• Helping the group to maintain progress and keep on track
• Leading (influencing) but not controlling
• Confidence in communicating ideas to others
• Confidence in presenting to a group
• Supporting other members of the group
