Women in UK Manufacturing
A collaborative project which will look to attract more women into the UK Manufacturing Sector
Initial 1 day conference to be held at Ardagh Glass Knottingley
December 9th, 2021
A collaborative and strategic approach which will encourage more women to enter the UK Manufacturing Sector, have successful careers and become role models. Our 1 day conference in December will start off the process but we see this as a long term project, with additional organisations wanting to be involved.
- Site tour of the manufacturing facilities at Ardagh Glass
- Personal stories – women already successful in a manufacturing role
- Women generally holding senior leadership roles
- Identifying the current challenges and barriers to women having successful careers in the manufacturing sector
- Building relationships with schools, colleges and universities
- An apprenticeship strategy that recruits women into the manufacturing sector
- Beginning to build a best practice strategy for 2022 and beyond
- Agreed action points for the early stages of 2022

- Women in Manufacturing – leadership development opportunities
- Login area on the LDC website
- Women in Manufacturing – mentoring support
- Input from the university sector – research and workshops
- Work experience on a collaborative basis
- Collaborative sponsorship – disadvantaged individuals
- Collaborative recruitment events
- Annual conference – sharing success stories and adjusting the strategy
Costs and project management
The cost of attending the December conference will be £1000.00 per organisation. This cost will include continual involvement in the project during 2022. The LDC will provide project management support throughout the initiative.
