So often the assessment of competency in the workplace is carried out in ad hoc fashion and without rigour. The workshop begins to explore winning strategies for the assessment of competency in the workplace.

- Identifying a range of roles and exploring the assessment regime – arranged in advance of the workshop
- Assessing competency during the onboarding process
- Job observation and standard operating procedures – the Nissan methodology
- A model of best practice – identifying the key ingredients
- A commitment to action and improvement

- Beginning to define an assessment strategy
- Potential to form an improvement group from within the organisations attending – sharing success stories over a period of time
